Born in the mid 80's
in the quiet Texas town of Lubbock, Gabriel Martinez has
always been fascinated by art. As a youth comic books
played a major role in his life, and super heroes soon
found their way onto the margins of his school work and
any other surface he could find. More recently his style
has been formed by the pop influence of Andy Warhol,
Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquait as well as the much
celebrated street art of Banksy and Shepard Fairey.
Using a mixture of bright vivid colors, graphic layouts
and powerful imagery Gabe has created a style that
captivates his audience and challenges their perception
of everyday life. Drawing from personal experiences Gabe
creates works commenting on the ups and downs of
relationships and life that can be appreciated by most
if not all people. A self proclaimed free thinker, Gabe
merely states his art is the product of complications
due to a broken heart. |
